A LocationIQ alternative with no daily request limit
LocationIQ provides geocoding, nearby places, routing, and maps, sold as plans with a daily request limit. Mapricot offers the same building blocks plus IP geolocation, paid per request: $0.10 per 1,000 after 250,000 free every 30 days.
Equivalent APIs
Each Mapricot API next to the LocationIQ product that does the same job. Mapricot's API isn't compatible with any other provider's, so switching means changing requests and response handling.

When to choose each
Where Mapricot is stronger
- Pay for what you use. LocationIQ's plans have a daily limit, so traffic spikes need a bigger plan.
- 250,000 free requests every 30 days, with no per-minute rate limit, against 5,000 a day at up to 2 a second.
- Free map tiles with no key, and IP geolocation under the same key.
Where LocationIQ is stronger
- Matrix, Optimize, Map Matching, and Nearest routing APIs.
- The Timezone API and static map images.
- High, steady volume that fills a large plan: its biggest plans cost less per request than Mapricot when used in full.
LocationIQ pricing
LocationIQ's free plan allows 5,000 requests a day, at up to 2 a second, for commercial use with a link back. Paid plans cost a set amount each month for a daily or monthly request limit, from $45 for maps only and $100 for 25,000 requests a day.
