A Stadia Maps alternative with one price per request
Stadia Maps sells map tiles, geocoding, routing, and other location APIs on open data, paid in monthly plans of credits: a map tile costs 1 credit, and a geocode or a route costs 20. Mapricot charges one price for every request, $0.10 per 1,000 after 250,000 free every 30 days, and its map tiles are free.
Equivalent APIs
Each Mapricot API next to the Stadia Maps product that does the same job. Mapricot's API isn't compatible with any other provider's, so switching means changing requests and response handling.

Where Stadia Maps is stronger
- Satellite imagery, static maps, and more map styles.
- Matrices, isochrones, map matching, optimized routes, and traffic-aware routing.

The per-1,000 figures are for the Starter plan: $20 for 1 million credits, then 3¢ per 1,000 credits. Source: Stadia Maps pricing, last checked October 22, 2026. Mapricot charges $0.10 per 1,000 requests after 250,000 free every 30 days, shared by every API, and its map tiles are free with no key.
Differences to plan for
- Requests: Stadia's search takes the query as
textand the key asapi_keyin the URL, or in aStadia-Authheader. Mapricot's takes the query asqand the key in anAuthorization: Bearerheader. - Map tiles: Mapricot's styles need no key and aren't counted. Stadia's tiles count against your credits, at 1 credit a tile.
- Routes: Mapricot returns the distance, travel time, and a line for the route, and the distance and time of each leg, through up to 20 stops. It doesn't return turn-by-turn instructions or matrices, and it doesn't use live traffic.
- Polylines: Mapricot's route line is a polyline with six decimal places, so decode with precision 6.
